Cashier Resume [2021] – Professional Guide & Examples

Cashier Resume – Samples & How to Guide

Almost every business needs a Cashier.

Cashiers usually work part time and have a minimum wage. This may not be a lot of money, but it’s a solid job if you have liabilities other time or are just entering the workforce.

What Companies Expect to See on a Cashier Resume

For many businesses, the Cashier role is an entry-level position, so there is no specific credential an employer would expect to see on a potential cashier’s resume.

If you’re old enough, potential employers will often want to see a high school diploma or equivalent, but still being in school doesn’t hurt your chances of getting hired. It is expected that you almost certainly have basic arithmetic and computer skills.

Customer service or previous cashier experience is a nice plus, but you can prove your employees’ skills in other ways.

Start Creating Your Resume

Remember that if you don’t have work experience, you can change your resume to always look great! Here are some tips for creating a resume when you think you have no experience:

  • Create a functional resume that focuses on Skills lists rather than Work Experience. Just remember to reveal the skills you really have and can sue in an interview. As this is a customer service position, don’t forget to include a Soft Skills section – interpersonal skills are essential for this type of job.
  • Highlight your education. If you’ve entered the Hall of Fame, got a perfect attendance record, or received any other recognition, add a “Awards” or “Achievements” section. If you have a high GPA

, include this as well. (If you’re still in school, that’s okay too!)

  • Show your volunteer experience. Clubs and activities are included in this section and will look particularly impressive if you have a leadership role. Even participating in sports shows that you can work in teams!

Contact Information to Include on a Resume for a Cashier

Older resume guides will tell you to include your full address. This is no longer true (as most employers will contact you by phone or email instead of mail) and it will take up more space than you can use for other information alone. Instead, put your city and region.

You may not have a large online presence associated with a Cashier position, so it’s okay to just add your email address and phone number.

If you choose to include a link (like your LinkedIn page) make sure it’s professional and something you would be proud to show off to a potential employer.

Cashier Resume Summary

The CV goals are out and the CV summaries are here! What is the diffrence? A CV goal tells employers your goals, but these aren’t very interesting because the employer already knows what job you’re applying for.

Instead, use a Cashier summary for your resume to highlight or add features and experiences that might not appear elsewhere. Remember that it’s okay to have a short paragraph and use sentence fragments!
