Architecture Resume – Samples & How to Guide
As an architect, you have the design skills and aesthetic talent to create an absolutely outstanding resume, but you may still encounter problems with writing and formatting a suitable modern resume tailored for the company you are applying for.
Our CV tips and examples in this guide are based on discussions our team has with recruiters and HR representatives from the architectural sector in Copenhagen, Denmark, where some of the top architectural firms around the world are headquartered.
What do companies expect to see in on an architect CV?
Most employers acknowledge that they would like to see the jobs you have had so far, a list of different projects you have undertaken in your different jobs or during your education, and it is really important to highlight your main responsibilities / achievements and role. you had each special project.
Is there a difference between a Graduate Architect’s Resume and a Senior Architect’s Resume?
The main difference is highlighted by one of the recruiters as follows:
“When a Senior Architect CV, I can say that it requires more work because when you are a Senior employee, we look more at the CV, we will look very carefully at what kind of experience you have, in which companies, in what role you play. Also look at different projects and dates, how long in different projects. If a portfolio comes after the resume, it’s okay that the resume is text only, but if you only do a resume then you should have photos of the most important projects, but I always recommend that you submit a portfolio.
On the other hand, if it is a recently graduated young architect, the resume will be very short and that’s okay, we will look further at the portfolio because the jobs in the portfolio will be more personal. For a Senior, it may be a job created in a Company, so it can be difficult to see what your skill or company is; but if they are a minor architect, it will usually be created by themselves, so it will represent them as an architect.
That’s why when I get an application, I always look at the portfolio first. ”
What is the Length for an Architecture Resume?
- Most of the employers we interviewed agreed that the maximum length for a graduate architect resume is 1 page, and the ideal number of pages for a senior architect resume is 1 to maximum 2 pages (excluding portfolio).
What Are the Most Important Skills?
First of all, you’ll need to be very good at design, have an aesthetic flair and graphic flair, and you know what looks good. This can be proven already by the design of your job application and portfolio.

As a final piece of advice for writing your architectural resume, one of the recruiters said, “When you create the CV, you really need to look at the web page of the company you are applying for. And of course, if you go to our homepage, everything is Scandinavian style with down-tone, very simple. So, of course, you shouldn’t make a pink background CV. But of course other companies might like pink, then of course you should. You have to look at the home page and then reflect the style, then you will catch our eyes. ”
