Born November 4, 1969 in Uvalde, a small Texas town west of San Antonio, Matthew David McConaughey grew up in Longview, a small town east of Dallas. The son of a teacher, Matthew is an excellent student and an excellent athlete.
After graduating from Longview High School, he spent some time in Australia in 1988 before returning to the States to attend the University of Texas in Austin. Producer Don Phillips, whom Matthew McConaughey met at university, introduces him to director Richard Linklater: the boy gets a small part in the film “Life is a Dream” (1993).
After graduating in film production, in 1993, Matthew McConaughey obtained several support roles in films of different quality; we remember “Submission” (1995), with the Italian Valeria Golino , directed by Benicio Del Toro .
